Education resources for earthquakes at TÜRKIYE and Syria

On February 6, 2023, two earthquakes and various aftershocks struck southeast Türkiye and Syria, devastatingly affecting 24 million people, including 9.1 million children. As of February 21, at least 46,000 deaths and 91,278 injuries have been confirmed, and up to 8,500 buildings have been collapsed. Access to education is hampered for nearly 4 million children. Schools have been suspended in affected parts of Syria until at least February 18, 2023, and in Türkiye until March 1 in the 10 affected provinces while search, rescue, and recovery efforts are ongoing.

UNICEF is reaching vulnerable children and families in Syria and Türkiye with life-saving assistance and supplies. Also, is coordinating with the Government of Türkiye and its emergency relief department to reinforce life-saving support for vulnerable children and their families while providing critical supplies, including blankets, clothing, water, sanitation, and hygiene kits.
